A private German foundation says it is canceling its Quadriga  award ceremony this year amid heavy criticism over its choice to honor Russia's Prime Minister.  The Quadriga foundation, which was set to honor Vladimir Putin for forging closer relations with Germany, said Saturday July 16, 2011  it is 'concerned by the massive criticism' coming from media and politicians. It says it is calling off this year's award ceremony altogether — traditionally held on the anniversary of German reunification in October, because of the 'increasingly unbearable pressure.'
